So ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.
— Leonard Cohen

I work in my studio in Rollinsford, NH and am currently inspired by textures in nature. I find working in clay a metaphor for life. Do your best to control what you can, embrace the surprises and let go of the failures. Sometimes the flaws lead somewhere beautiful. A certain amount of the process is left to chance, which gives me a little thrill. When I am working, I don’t necessarily plan each piece. I have a rough concept of what I’d like to create, then am either pleasantly surprised at the outcome and in somewhat disbelief that it came from my hands, or I toss it in the reclaim bin and start again. It has taken a while to get to this point where everything I make is not so precious to me and I am able to let it go.
